Statistics as of January 1, 2022 – January 1, 2023

  1. 1 “Other” reflects individuals who identify as non-binary, non-gender conforming, or identify as another gender other than male or female.
  2. 2 In extortion situations, male victims are more frequently extorted for money (financial sextortion), whereas females are more often extorted for additional content (images/videos). As such, Cybertip.ca has seen that the primary target of financial sextortion has been males.
Cybertip.ca has experienced significant increases in reports related to financial sextortion, and therefore the proportion of male child victims has increased simultaneously.
